The organization – Narendrapur Helping Hand formally started its activities on 13thNovember, 2000 with its’ formal registration. The birth of the society is a culmination and continuation of fight against evil forces forming a combined force of the suffering people. It provides a platform to the people of remote rural area striving for a proper human life in better & brighter tomorrow.
The endeavour and intervention of the Narendrapur Helping Hand are intrinsically with miseries and sufferings of the inhabitants of remote inter-land of Mega City Kolkata and in the surroundings of Sunderban areas, learning from the invaluable experience gained out of its close association with the area and its people, the Organization has, over the years, worked out various strategies to helps to mitigate the suffering of the people to a great extent and to be with them to lead a meaningful existence in the society with full dignity and rights of a human being.
The main forces of the Organization have always been the poorest, deprived and suffering people of the society, —- The women and children. Through its various programme interventions the Organization’s emphasis has been on the emancipation and humanization of women & restoration of the fast deteriorating ecological balance of the Sundarban areas has gained momentum besides under spread & objective oriented Awareness Generation programme for building a strong human resource infrastructure. Natural calamities like flood & cyclones, which usually cause havoc in this Zone of Bengal, are also very much intrivisic part of the development interventions of the society.
On the background above I am very glad to present before you the work audit of last one year in the forum of Annual Report for the year 2013 – 2014. Our society is registered under Societies Registration Act of XXVI of 1961 and also Registered under Section 80(G) and 12 AA of Income Tax Act and obtained a Pan Card. The Society is also recently applied for registration under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. Of India. The matter is still pending at the Ministry level at Delhi.
It is a hard fact that the area is backward and most neglected Zone in West Bengal in farthest south Corner of the country. I, on behalf of my Association, am hereby expressing heartiest thanks to the members and fellow volunteers who are fighting hand in hand to change the odd situation. I am also grateful to all well-wishers, donors, resource persons and co-fighter of the local Clubs and organizations whoever backed us, encouraged us and joined hand with us.
Lastly, but not least, I express my grateful thanks to all government officials, administrative personnel and local-self bodies whoever encouraged us and extended their helping hand to our humble effort.
